2011 Season
Team Updates
Update: 27 June 2011
IHRA Nitro Jam 24-26, 2011 Canada's largest event of the year! Top Fuel Dragsters, Nitro Harleys, Pro Modified, Fuel Altered, and sportsman cars.
Weather played a part in this weekend's event! Qualifying rounds both Friday and Saturday, with eliminations on Sunday. Friday night Nitro Jam was cancelled due to rain.
Great crowd base all weekend with the highlight of the Top Fuel Dragster action, plus the event closer of the Grave Digger Monster Truck raced and defeated Super Shock Waves dual jet engine Jet Car.
Garnet Rose in the Bumper to Bumper sponsored race car emerged round after round, to the final showing.
What a nail bitter. Final Round action Rose vs. Melnyk both cars ended up breaking out; Melnyk, broke out less.
After an incredible day of racing round 6 of eliminations; Garnet Rose a fierce competitor finished runner-up for the ET Box Bracket. Great proud showing for the Rosebud Racing Team.
Update: 20 June 2011
Rain, rain go away, let's race another day.
Update: 11/12 June 2011
Our team members Cheryl Rose & Barry Wagg (along with 3 other team riders) participated in the MS Camrose Bike Tour raising over $8K for the great cause. Their support crew of many people loaded up the Rosebud race trailer with everything needed and headed out to Camrose to meet them at the finish line. This terrible disease hits home with our family, we are very proud of all "Bikes & Rose's" riders and support crew!
Update: 4/5 June 2011
Saturday's racing started very late in the day due to heavy rains the night before and rain threatened all as well. Garnet qualified well with two consistent runs, 10.55 & 10:56, but eventually losing out in the quarter final round. Due to weather predictions of large rain on Sunday, racing was cancelled.
Update: 31 May 2011
Garnet enjoyed a relaxed weekend away from Castrol Raceway to participate in a pre-arranged engagement. Looking forward to the next event at Castrol Raceway.
Update: 26 May 2011
The Bumper To Bumper Race Team has taken 1st this past weekend in Ashcroft, Alberta!
Update: 17 May 2011
We attended Medicine Hat Raceway May 6 and 7 (with car) to participate in the Scotty Richardson Drag Racing School. This school, run by Scotty Richardson specializes in the teaching techniques of finish line racing. There is an art to driving the finish line, learning not only to win the races you are supposed to, but also learn to have a shot at winning the races you should actually lose.
Garnet entered both days of competition at Castrol Raceway this past weekend (13th & 14th). As you are aware, it was extremely windy at the track, which made for tricky driving and a very uncomfortable outside atmosphere.
Garnet qualified Saturday running a bunch 10:40 passes, losing out in the 3rd round of competition by a very small margin of 1/1000 of a second.
During Sundays 2nd qualifying pass the motor broke the number 2 cylinder header pipe, right close to the exhaust valve. Thus ending the day, as serious valve damage would develop if not repaired properly.
Have some down time now, will be stopping in at our local Bumper to Bumper to get supplies for maintenance on the car. See you at the track may 28 and 29.
